Moody Wedding Photoshoot In Austrian Alps

Fantasy mood in a historical villa

Happy to share a new gallery from a wedding photoshoot in the Austrian Alps we did at Villa Schoenthal in Semmering. The location itself felt like stepping into a story, a big wooden villa full of character, with sunlight coming through the windows and creating these deep contrasts.

We wanted to keep the mood a bit darker and cinematic, letting the light create the atmosphere rather than simply brighten everything up. We always focus on moody and storytelling frames, trying to capture the intimacy and emotions between the couple in a way that fits the scene naturally.

The mix of old architecture, quiet and busy moments, lively photographs, and the vintage charm everywhere allowed us to create a strong visual story. We pushed the contrast in some of the photos by also using our lights, although most of what you see was photographed as it happened, with soft natural light falling through the windows. We could create this style in any location, but it is always exciting when the surroundings already give us something special and allow us to be creative.

Aside from the location, we were very lucky with the couple. We quickly found a connection with them, and as Rafael is a dancer and Gretta knows the moves too, we could capture some of these energetic, lively, and passionate shots that you will also find below.

The gallery

We started by photographing the venue, interiors, and details. The vintage interiors, with lots of wood and small balconies, added so much character to the atmosphere. We then captured the main table decoration using artistic light and different effects before moving on to the main part of the photoshoot.
