Garden Wedding in Austria
This wedding took place on a rainy summer day on the outskirts of Vienna, in a classic Viennese Heuriger garden with trees hanging low over the lawn and a very calm, intimate atmosphere. The rain stayed with us most of the day, but it never really bothered anyone. It actually gave the colours a softer, more cinematic look that suited the day perfectly.
We photographed the celebration from midday until around 1 a.m., capturing everything from the quieter moments of the afternoon to the lively evening party. Having already photographed their civil ceremony the day before, we were able to tell a full story across both days.
From the start, we connected easily with the couple. We discovered we had all lived in Manchester around the same time — a fun coincidence — and also that we all love cats, which probably helped too.
The wedding itself was relaxed, genuine, and multicultural. The garden, the rustic Heuriger interiors, and the live musicians gave the day a warm, cosy atmosphere.
Rain always changes how we approach photographing a wedding. Without strong sunlight, we focused more on colour, contrast and capturing these creative detail shots.
Since we photographed as two photographers, as always we could do a full coverage in our cinematic style + some creative shots that are usually harder to capture when you’re alone.
